Engineering and manufacturing route review report
This route review has provided an opportunity to take a closer look at the importance of engineering and manufacturing occupations within the UK economy and ensure that the occupational standards which apprenticeships, T Levels and higher technical qualifications (HTQs) are based on provide the sector with the right skills and growth for the future.
As route panel chairs, we have been able to see the positive impact that the apprenticeship programme has had on the sector and the wider economy.

2020 - Apprentice panel survey report
The survey was designed and delivered by the apprentice panel of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, with support from Institute officials.
Questions focused on:
Knowledge of and satisfaction with the commitment statement
The time allowed for off-the-job training and how well this meets the apprentices needs
The relevance of what they have learned for their current job and future career
The suitability of the duration of their apprenticeship

External quality assurance of apprenticeships
Previously there was the option for EQA to be carried out by various EQA providers, including employers, professional bodies, Ofqual or the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).
In February to May 2020, we consulted on simplifying the EQA system.

Occupational standards in scope (level 3, cycle 1)
The qualification categories in scope for Cycle 1 are:
level 3 Occupational entry technical qualifications for 16-19 & adults
level 3 Occupational entry technical qualifications for adults only
level 3 Additional specialist technical qualifications for 16-19 & adults
The cycle 1 submission window is now closed.
For cycle 1 of the approval of level 3 technical qualifications, all level 3 standards in the following routes are in scope.
