Solicitor apprentices outperforming academic counterparts in exams

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) has today published a report for legal, finance and accounting, following a major review into current and future skills needs in these sectors.
Apprentice pass rates for the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) are on average 26% higher than the overall pass rate, with solicitor apprentices outperforming those taking the more traditional academic route into law.

Jennifer Coupland announced as new CEO for the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

Today (15 July) the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute) has announced that Jennifer Coupland will be joining as Chief Executive Officer from November this year.
Jennifer is currently the Director of Professional and Technical Education in the Education and Skills Funding Agency, part of the Department for Education, and was previously Acting Chief Executive of the Standards Testing Agency.

The approvals process
The Board has established the Approvals Committee (AC) as an IfATE Board. Its primary purpose is to exercise the Executive’s responsibilities for approving technical education products (Apprenticeships and Technical Qualifications) in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation.
