Help shape employer-led approvals system for Lifelong Learning Entitlement

IfATE is consulting on how the employer stamp of approval should be granted to technical qualifications funded through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE).
This new flexible loan system will transform the post-18 student finance system in England.

Two exciting new board appointments have been unveiled by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute).
Dayle Bayliss and John Cope will serve as non-executive board members for three years starting from next month.

'Quality' keynote speech from Institute chief executive

The chief executive of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education delivered a keynote speech that stressed the need to refocus on quality as we emerge from the pandemic.
Jennifer Coupland spoke to delegates at the first Annual Apprenticeship Conference to be held in person, at the ICC, in Birmingham, for two years.

Developing an occupational standard
In January 2021, the government published the ‘Skills for Jobs: Lifelong Learning for Opportunity’ white paper. This outlined that the future of the technical education system will be based on employer needs with the substantial majority of post-16 technical and higher technical education and training aligned to occupational standards, set by IfATE and developed and approved by employers.

Parliamentary launch for IfATE’s Simpler Skills System report

IfATE is holding a special event in the House of Lords today (June 13) to unveil our report on plans to unite and simplify the skills system, improving access to vital training for businesses and people from all backgrounds.
We are also officially launching new occupational maps, which will be important for making the plan work, making it easier than ever to check out options to train for a job then progress to senior skills levels on tablets and mobile phones.
