Businesses urged to recruit more apprentices as demand from school leavers outstrips supply

Businesses are being urged by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) to offer more apprenticeships to young people who will soon be getting their exam results – because demand is now by far outstripping supply.
In 2023, 430,000 students expressed an interest in apprenticeship opportunities via UCAS – a 180% increase since 2021.

New quality marks for higher technical qualifications

Higher technical qualifications will receive a new quality mark from the Institute from September 2022, as part of government reforms.The mark will help to set out those qualifications which fit in with the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers need.

Employers working in housing and property management are being urged to help review apprenticeships as new rules on professional qualifications come into effect.
The 2023 Social Housing (Regulation) Act requires social housing managers to have an appropriate level 4 or 5 (foundation degree level) housing management qualification.

Product Assurance Committee
