What's it like to work at IfATE?
By joining IfATE, you’ll join a group of passionate employees working in one of our sites in Coventry, London, Darlington and Manchester. You will help us transform the skills landscape by putting employers at its heart and making it easier to access and navigate.
Find out more about the work of IfATE in the ‘what we do’ page on this website.
While we are sponsored by the Department for Education (DfE), we are also led by an independent chair. This means we take pride in giving independent and impartial advice to the department, and to the sector.

make sure that our apprenticeship and technical products include sustainability in their knowledge, skills, and behaviours

keep paper consumption to a minimum through digital working and manage the need to travel to/between offices by hybrid working
-
use public transport as the first option for travel and manage the use of vehicle hire to minimise carbon emissions where possible
-
continue to include social value in 100% of our procurements
But don’t take our word for it…
Our staff come from many different backgrounds and bring a hugely rich, yet diverse, set of skills and talents. Here is what some of our employees say about what it’s like to work at IfATE:
“I joined IfATE as an apprentice. Over the last few years, I have been fortunate enough to work with several fantastic teams and it’s a great place to be. In my current role, I’m working on the programme that will be delivering T Levels. It’s a very exciting time for the team as the first lot of T levels are due to launch this year! Knowing the impact T Levels will have on people’s lives, has made this work extremely rewarding.”Henok Teklai, programme management officer and ex-apprentice
“I joined IfATE in April 2017 at the start, and what a three years it has been! When I started there was only a handful of staff across both offices. I have made many friends over that time; I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing IfATE grow and look forward to seeing it get bigger and better.I am the Coventry office manager and I love to help people with all types of requests. Lots of people call me the “go-to person” as I know where to direct people to.”
Amanda Steward, Coventry office manager
“Since joining IfATE as a disabled member of the team, I am really impressed by how I am encouraged to bring my true self to work. The passion and commitment to diversity and inclusion are not just words on a bit of paper here. IfATE really want to know how we can create an inclusive culture and are very open to challenge. As a stakeholder-led organisation, clear and honest conversations are key to how we work. I would absolutely recommend IfATE as a great place to work, which really is for everyone and anyone.”Jonathan Walden, senior project consultant
